A Convenient Perk of Employment

 He was Twenty-three years old.

The physician owner, the practice that had hired him, was twenty-six years old.

He...loved her. But he wouldn't dare tell anyone about that shit! He wasn't crazy! He needed a job.

She had a female child with her husband.

The child was three. Beautiful child! He had been employed by her since the child was born. Every time that the physician's husband would bring the child to the practice, he would say,

"Hey Zoe! How're you doing lady?!" She would give him this big beatific smile and he'd melt with that response.

The child would try to push out of her Father's hold and try to get him to hold her. He would look at the Father with a smile and ask in earnest, 'Do you mind?'

"Of course not." The Father would always say every time with not a care in the world. Then he would get the child, hold her, and look her in the eyes and say,

"How have you been doing lady?!"

She would grab onto him like the child was scared or like he was saving her from something. He didn't really understand what was going on but the child was...something special. She was a beautiful child.

But he just loved the child!

Well, shit...and her mother. But he couldn't let that out, because her mother, his employer, was obviously married and she was from a churchgoing family. And he dug that shit. A perfect family! Anyway...

He had heard his Office Manager and the Child's Mother talk about,

"You're married! How in the world can that happen?" And he understood how shit could happen like that shit! Life wasn't always perfect. Life was complicated. And he wished that he could have been this child's parent for some reason. He had connected with this child in some strange fucked up happenstance..

He wanted that female child like nobody's business to succeed! Without the grown ass sorry muh fuckin adult bullshit. And without that child having perpetual lifelong

Guilt...

(Peace! More to come...)
