He didn't think nothing of it really. He wanted to kill bad people. So, he informed the Army recruiter what he wanted to do in his military career. The recruiter laughed a bit and said, "God damn! Been there done that! Hoo-rah! Oh, I can see Army Sniper School in your near future given that you have your Bachelor's and are willing to go, what we like to call on the ground, Infantry 'Commando' style! You'll be much respected!" And he was. Anyway...
So, he joined the US Army Infantry as a Specialist doing subsequently two tours, and tours after having specialized training in Sniper School, each tour being six years after the intial four, 16 years in total! And that had made all of the difference in the world! The advancement or real killing didn't really start until his release date after some sixteen years. killing of the bad people the whole time a weak dead ass 33 bad people in 16 years of Army Sniper service. No, the real killing started after and that's where it got so interesting.
It was exactly three years after leaving the military where it all started happening. He had come home from work at the local Indianapolis warehouse. The landline phone started ringing as soon as he had opened his home's door! He paused, thinking, "That's odd?". While it continued to ring. He walked over to his home phone. Picked it up without speaking. "Is this Sergeant Major Hopson?". He was taken aback but with curiosity he answered,"I haven't been called that in some time. May I ask who this is?"
"This is General Morgan Lambert, Army Special Command. They said you were a good soldier. And by the way you address people I can tell they were correct. Anyway. Sergeant Major Hopson we have like a proposition for you."
"That word "like", I don't like. So...Thank you ever so much General Lambert! I have no interests."
"I understand Sergeant Major Hopson. But can I ask you just one question if you don't mind before we disconnect?!" The General said.
"Sure, General."
"It says here? That you joined our great US military to kill bad people?! If that's correct? And you still feel that way? Let's have a sit down and talk Sergeant Major Hopson. It won't take long. Let me put thah proposition out there? Then, 'Yea" or "Nay"? That's all. And you have my word you can continue with your non-killing bad people civilian life."
He stifled a laugh because now he liked General Lambert. So he said, "Okay General. Where would you like for me to meet you?"
"Shit Sergeant Major Hopson. I'm across the street right in front of your abode. All I need is an okay to come to your front door forthwith. And hopefully you'll let an old General in?"
He looked out of his front door, and there the vehicle was. How did he miss it? But thah last stretch of a four day 12 hour on and 12 hour off shift was probably the reason. He smiled, then said into the receiver, "Please General Lambert. Do come?".
"Well, okay! But wait a doggone minute. Can I ask you just one more thing before I am granted entry to your home?"
"No Problem General Lambert, What's that Sir?"
"Do you have any bourbon?! If not, I'm going to have to make a quick run and I'll be back shortly."
He almost lost it! But kept it together. "Please, General Lambert? What kind of US ex-military personnel would I be without the greatest US survival ration in US military history?"
"Ain't that the truth! They sure enough said I'd like you! And I sure do. Be right there Sergeant Major. If you don't mind, three fingers with some ice waitin, would be militarily appreciated?"
"Consider it done, Sir. Let yourself in. Turn to the right and have a seat." He said with a smile on his face. and disconnected. He was liking General Lambert more and more....
