Then he heard the beautiful sound...a vehicle...maybe...less than a hundred yards away. He looked up suddenly and saw the headlights, then tail lights of the passing car.
Okay...Doable...He opened his eyes wide. He remembered in basic training where the drill sergeants and in live night drills taught the platoon about night vision. "Takes at least fifteen to twenty minutes dicks for the shit to kick in!" So...he kept his eyes opened...wide... waiting for optimal night vision before his next move. Well...if he were able to move? So...let's see...
